Consider the scenario where a question receives only one answer. And it's wrong so its not accepted. Then the responder can accept their faulty answer after 48 hours. I would say then maybe we should have a reject button, but consider if it's already too hard to accept things then it will be doubly hard for users to reject things.

RE: Custom event module
I have a request, could you implement the example from the DevForum post of waiting for several events?
I think a way to describe a series or pattern of events occuring within certain amounts of time of eachother would be super powerful. For example, an event for double key taps.
Froast's Archived ROBLOX Forum
I stumbled upon this reddit post today in /r/roblox while doing homework. This is by far one of the most impressive ROBLOX projects involving work outside of ROBLOX studio. I'm considering donating to help with server costs, and you should too. I'll give a TL;DR of the post and the site.
They archived all of the ROBLOX Forum posts that are now inaccessible. Really. Posts from early years such as 2008 and prior are even visible. The developers of the site set up a lot of storage to catalog posts and they have downloads available to get the raw dump too (which is so cool! the amount of data to use is staggering!).
Why should you care? If not for the significant implications of using the data to find useful answers to SH questions, to learn about the roblox community in over 500GB of text (I think that's what I read) whether manually or with a machine, then at least you should care because it means you can look at the posts of now prestigious characters (such as myself /s) and see the childish internet banter that we first began posting to the forums with.
If you search my name, my first few posts are roleplaying and script requests. For example --
Ok I am putting coins in my game and once you collect them you get a point and it vanishes until the next round each round is 1 minute (including lobby time)But the problem is I dont want the coins to be in the same spot...also if it randoms around I am afraid either it will go and something toohigh our go off the map.PLEASE HELP
If you search crazyman32 (he has always been my idol) you can see posts such as.
I have a problem. im cinda new at roblox and i was wondering why the free models always regen in a different spot than u put them in. If u know how to fix this then plz tell me. thanks!
In my opinion, one of the game creators with the most prolific set of hit-games in nostalgia-roblox? lando64000
Why is it that whenever i load a morph and put it in my place then go and play it in a real server it wont work. For instance, i loaded a turtle from free models and it works when you go to test mode with it but, when i upload my place to roblox and play it....it wont morph??? Its like that with all the morphs i download. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!
And so much more. But this project is more than looking through the dirty forum record of myself, or famous people that you know, it's a source of data that I think is worth protecting!
EDIT: Sorry just realized I never provided the direct link! Here it is archive.froast.io
2nd EDIT: I thought it would be worth mentioning while switching away from the forum tab that I don't view those old posts as representations of who we are at all. I say this because there were a lot of reddit comments about people's fears about their old attacks, tantrums, and how they wished to bury that in the past (the search feature of the forum originally buried it). I think it's fun to see that everyone, even serious developers, were children (including me, maybe the majority of my forum posts are immature) once upon a time and we've grown up. There shouldn't be any shame.
RE: How have you used different math functions in cool ways?
@kingdom5 What do you mean new random number generator? Is there a new feature? I did a search but could not find any articles referencing this.
RE: Projects left behind!
I tried to make my own version of one of CrazyMan32's games that is no longer on his creations list. It had a top-down look of an island and you could place on a grid a series of buildings that functioned like a tycoon.
My idea was to take it even further and to utilize random smooth terrain generation and make the game as in-depth as Cities Skylines. Each building would contribute to some population statistic such as air-quality, economy, etc. Players would log in to check on their cities -- sounded like a good game for me.
My problem was finding the upper bound of Smooth Terrain on a voxel grid. I could never figure out how to eliminate clipping, and with that my inspiration was spent. I still have a bunch of code on my hard drive left over from my attempts. It taught me a lot about using smooth terrain anyway.
RE: String compression module
Can you post a pastebin with the module instead? I peruse the forums a lot without access to ROBLOX Studio and so I can't use in-game models like Modules off the catalog. It could help with bench marking too (for example I prefer to use my linux suite for stuff like that because I know the CLI commands a bit better there).
This is a lovely write-up of all of the different things you implemented. Even if I won't use the module myself, I really enjoyed all of the explanations.
RE: aloopi - Another Lua OOP Implementation
Hey this is really cool just looking at the docs! I think my favorite feature you have here is static typing for dictionaries (I'm not sure I've seen that before in lua user libraries). I sometimes frequent the LOVE2D forums (a lua game engine) and I think they would love this too over there (consider posting, I did a quick search and didn't see aloopi).
Notably whenever I need object-oriented-ness I use 30log (github). Also on the LOVE2D wiki is Middleclass (github). I only have time in the day to check out the forums rather than playing with all of these cool creations in-depth, but I'll give you a bookmark in my browser!
Keep up the good work! Wait, what does this have to do with python?
RE: Game Ideas
Okay. I'm feeling creative, and don't think I would be able to do this myself.
- A puzzle game based on light.
- By placing point lights on a map you can activate different game objectives that combine like a puzzle to open the next stage (puzzle as in portal puzzle).
- Light can be spread using things like cables (fibre optics!) to different points to make it even more complicated.
- Based on the inverse square law of light.
- The sales pitch: you have different colors and particle emitters of light.
- A tycoon-like game based on mechanics.
- The movement of money objects are not prescripted but must be moved through different locations with different actuators: conveyor belts, pistons, wacky sticks.
- The sales pitch: unlock different unique actuators with some paid promotion. The puzzles don't require them but you can use them.
- A rocket-jumping game.
- Look at rocket-jumping in Quake and TF2. If that can be implemented in ROBLOX (not including the gear because that's not ideal) I think that in itself would be a hit.
- A puzzle game based on light.
RE: Wishes to Roblox (Basically ideas/features that you wish Roblox would add)
If we are bringing this thread back to life then I'll contribute my opinion as well.
I would love to see better support for the Scripters forum so that sites like these wouldn't have to exist separate from the ROBLOX site itself. Imagine incorporating the SH system right into the Scripting Helpers subforum. Better moderation of those would be wonderful as well.
Finally, it would be great to see some official documentation about how roblox places and models are saved so we can move towards things like build scripts and open source projects. There's tools like this, and unofficial notes from some person named Greg, but some official docs would be cool.
